WRPC Beckingham range license – approved!
Thank you to our club officers and RCO’s who have put some serious effort into acquiring our own range license for the MOD range at Beckingham, near Newark.
We had our first shoot on 26th July and it was an outstanding success with more than 20 members attending.
WRPC has six club rifles available for members who do not yet have their own kit for this type of shooting, plus members are allowed to use each other’s rifles. Any full member of WRPC can attend these shoots and the club heavily subsidises the range fees.
All attendees are trained on the usage of full bore rifles with the goal of everyone gaining their Safe Shooter Certification card.
The club also runs free courses to teach home loading as most members will move onto loading their own ammunition. In order to shoot home loaded ammo on MOD ranges you must be certified by the club – that’s what the training courses are for.
Now that we have our own license we expect to run one Beckingham shoot every month, in addition to the other regular shoots at the Strensall MOD range near York, plus quarterly visits to the national shooting centre at Bisley.
On the firing line – modern sporting rifle with sound suppressor attached.

Despite most of us getting up at 6am don’t we all look happy!
